After the successful release of Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, released in 2019, the movie continues with a sequel the spider man across the spider verse which is set to hit the theaters in June 2023.

Recently in an interview director of the 2nd part, Kemp Powers disclosed that the villain of this movie is going to be ‘The Spot’. Along with this information Powers also said that The Spot is going to be the villain for the 2nd part as well as for the 3rd part.
The 3rd part of this spider-verse animated movie series is named ‘ Spider-Man: Beyond The Spiderverse’.

the spot vs spiderman

The Spot has been a villainous character in the spiderman comics for quite some time but has never been recognized at the level of other spiderman villains like Dr. Octopus or Green Goblin. Why though?
Well unlike other spiderman villains The Spot does not have any good and firm motive to fight against spiderman, so he has never been taken seriously and is always seen as a joke villain.

The origin of The Spot

The spot

His original name is Johnathan Ohnn. He is a graduate of M.I.T. and back in his college days, he was roommates with Quentin Beck, which we all know as Mysterio.

After M.I.T., he starts working for Kingpin where he is assigned the task of replicating the powers of another vigilante The Cloak, who has powers of teleporting anywhere through another dark force dimension portal.

Trying to achieve what he is assigned, he ends up creating a black portal, which he thinks is the same dimension portal that helps The Cloak to teleport anywhere in the real world.

But the portal starts consuming power from the whole city and afraid, that portal might get destabilized and loosing what he has achieved, Johnathan steps towards the portal but the portal destabilizes and ends up pulling Johnathan into that portal before it shuts down.

When he regains his consciousness, he finds himself floating in a dimension that he thinks is the same dimension that Cloak uses but it is not the same dimension. This dimension has white all around and black circular portal-like patches in it. He finds out that these patches are interconnected with each other. He finally finds the portal to get back to his own reality.
On getting back he realizes that his body has gone through a significant amount of changes, now his body like the dimension he was in is all white with black portal patches on his white body.

He uses these newfound powers to steal money from the banks and to confront him comes the spider-man. On asking what his name is, Johnathan calls himself ‘The Spot’.

Is Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield going to appear in spiderman across the spider verse?

Tom Holland in spider verse

A year ago Spiderman – No way home was released and got the best-ever response from marvel fans,as Three spider man from different timelines were going to appear together on the same screen.

Fans never anticipated that crossover at this level could even happen and when it did happen, the movie saw a collection bigger than their expectations.
Fans will go crazy if they get to see them once again together on the big screen. Looking from a business point of view if this happens there’s no doubt that it’ll be profitable with quite a good margin. But as good as it feels to think about this scenario it’s not possible as both the actors have a contract on how many movies both have signed up to do with marvel and looking at the upcoming movies from marvel and the number of movies Tom Holland has signed up for, there is no room for any extra movie in which he can play spider-man.
